Conservation Volunteer at Selwyn Bush, Auckland
Description: Celebrate Student Volunteer week by getting outside on a conservation project with Conservation Volunteers New Zealand. This week we will visit Selwyn Bush in Kohimarama which is full of wonderful regenerating native bush and host to many native bird species. The Purewa restoration group has done a significant amount of work clearing weeds and replanting with natives. Some areas are near completion and some still need help. Come join the team and help build this groups vision of an oasis of native bush in an ever expanding Auckland city.
Connecting People With Parks
This project is part of our Connecting People With Parks programme, in partnership with Auckland Council, which runs every Tuesday and sometimes over the weekend. On this programme volunteers come to our offices ready typically for an 8am departure and we then take you out in our van to the project and return you no later than 4pm. Times vary on weekend projects (You can also meet on site if that suits you better).
For all our projects you are assisted by a qualified team leader who guides you through the tasks and can help you to identify and learn about native species of fauna and flora and conservation. Tasks range according to the season and the specific needs of the park.
